Metro Denver residents may be flocking to see the Monet exhibit, but when it comes to the vehicles they own, they largely favor monochrome.
Greyscale vehicles account for 77.1% of the total in the U.S. and 77% in metro Denver, according to a survey of 9 million vehicles on the road by iSeeCars.com.
Black and white vie for the most popular color in states and cities across the country, with metro Denver residents showing a slight preference for white vehicles, despite the blank canvas that color offers for the grit and grime that accumulates from driving on snowy roads.
About 23.9% of the 9 million cars on the road that iSeeCars.com examined were white, while 23.2% were black. Gray was the third most popular color at 15.5% of the total and then silver at 14.5%.
In metro Denver, 23.1% of the vehicles were white and 21.6% were black. The next most popular colors were gray at 17.3% and silver at 15%.
Beyond that comes red at 10.3% of personal vehicles in the U.S. and 9.6% in metro Denver. Blue is up next at 9% in the U.S. and 9.1% in metro Denver.
Cars and trucks that go beyond those six colors are rare. In metro Denver, brown makes up 1.7% of the total, followed by green at 0.9%, and then orange and beige at 0.5% each, according to the survey.
